MNK Chartered Accountants is a professional services firm in Zimbabwe, offering audit, tax, and advisory services. A key challenge faced by the company was over-reliance on manual processes, which made it hard to keep track of the complex work streams inherent in any audit. Minati Ndala, Partner, MNK Chartered Accountants says she first became aware of Caseware when undergoing training at a Big Four accounting company and found it to be user friendly.
MNK Chartered Accountants accordingly implemented Caseware Audit International as well as the financial statements package. Initially only the senior members of the firm used the package, but now all team members are using it.
“Having all the working papers in one central location and all work being synchronised on Caseware is already a huge benefit for us in terms of productivity and work quality. Going forward, we see the potential to automate more and more of the audit process as something that will generate huge benefits for a small practice like ours,” Ms Ndala says. “In due course, we expect the productivity enhancements to translate into cost savings.” Caseware provided training for the MNK Chartered Accountants’ team and continues to offer support—the support team is very responsive, Ms Ndala confirms.
Caseware has also adopted an innovative and flexible approach to pricing when necessary to accommodate LDP’s needs. For example, it made it possible for LDP to access highly specialised software used for conducting audits of attorneys’ trust funds on a pay-as-you-go basis. “Purchasing a licence in the normal way would not make business sense for us given the number of clients where we would use the software, so the pay-as-you-go model really worked for us,” Ms Haasbroek says.
LDP moved onto Caseware Cloud in 2019. Ms Haasbroek says that cloud is rapidly evolving to become an essential business tool. For example, Caseware Cloud made it easy for LDP to shift into a work-from-home mode in response to the COVID-19 lockdowns. “Caseware is an amazing product and I can’t imagine our business without it,” she concludes.
