LDP celebrates long partnership with Caseware Africa

This large and successful accounting and auditing practice has been using Caseware for more than 15 years, proof positive of its long-term value.

Established for more than 25 years as a leading accounting, auditing, and advisory firm, LDP has been using Caseware Working Papers and Connector, as well as Caseware templates for IFRS and IFRS for SMEs in both English and Afrikaans. For a medium-sized practice like LDP—and especially given its focus on building lasting client relationships—the emphasis must be on streamlining its auditing and accounting practices to ensure maximum productivity for its employees and directors. For many years, Caseware has beendoing just that, providing the company with solutions that enable it to stay on top of a constantly changing regulatory and standards environment, and free up its employees to add value to their clients.

Alicia Haasbroek, Head of IT Systems at LDP, says that Caseware has proved to be an extremely useful product because it includes everything needed for both the accounting and auditing arms of the business. “It’s one solution so it’s easy for us to manage, and it’s very easy to use,” she says.

A key benefit is the fact that the software is continually updated in line with new regulations and standards. For example, last year when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the audit templates were updated accordingly.

Another valued feature is the collaboration between Caseware Africa and LDP when it comes to new products. Forthcoming products are showcased to the LDP team in advance of launch in order to get their input. In addition, LDP can feed its own requests into the Caseware development process for assessment.

Caseware has also adopted an innovative and flexible approach to pricing when necessary to accommodate LDP’s needs. For example, it made it possible for LDP to access highly specialised software used for conducting audits of attorneys’ trust funds on a pay-as-you-go basis. “Purchasing a licence in the normal way would not make business sense for us given the number of clients where we would use the software, so the pay-as-you-go model really worked for us,” Ms Haasbroek says.

LDP moved onto Caseware Cloud in 2019. Ms Haasbroek says that cloud is rapidly evolving to become an essential business tool. For example, Caseware Cloud made it easy for LDP to shift into a work-from-home mode in response to the COVID-19 lockdowns. “Caseware is an amazing product and I can’t imagine our business without it,” she concludes.
